For as long as I remember, I have been inspired by Taylor Swift's lyrical genius and ability to create visual dreamscapes with words. It's something that has subtly influenced my art practice over the years and inspired the way I like to work in art collections which are my 'eras'.
However, I've never taken an album or song and painted a piece, wholly inspired by the feelings, atmosphere, visual imaginations and visceral reactions that come as a result of me listening to that musical artwork.
As the Eras Tour makes it way to Liverpool, UK (my home city!) this month, I am celebrating by launching a collection of Swift-inspired paintings. Everyday for 11 days, I'll be releasing a painting inspired by each of Taylor's 11 albums. The paintings will be released everyday from Monday 3rd June at 8pm (sharp) on Instagram.
To ensure that everyone gets the chance to purchase these very limited and unique paintings, the first person to comment 'MINE' on the Instagram post each night will get the piece. Over the years, I've found this is one of your most preferred ways to purchase paintings so I thought i'd bring it back for this very exciting collection!
If you are a fellow Swifite, this is your chance to own an original painting, inspired by Fearless, Speak Now, Red, 1989, Folklore and more, to hang in your home as an elegant nod to the Eras Tour. If you're like me, you love a good Easter Egg that gives a nod to Taylor Swift, without being overtly ‘Swiftie.' I love having elegant, sophisticated and joyful pieces in my home but I don't want them to scream Tay Tay.
These paintings will remain true to my signature contemporary abstract art style but will take inspiration from the mood, colours, lyrics, dreamscapes and soundscapes of each album.
Be sure to make a note of the release day for your favourite painting to ensure you've got your alarm set for 8pm so you can comment 'MINE' and make the piece yours.
