abstract blue paintings on khadi paper

Introducing... Postcards from Greece

May 01, 2024Jessica Slack

Inspired by my recent adventures across the beautiful Cycladic islands, this series captures the mesmerising blues, tranquil aquamarines and vibrant turquoises that paint the Greek landscape.

Within these pieces, I want to capture Greece's hidden treasures. With charcoal, pens, pencils, and oil pastels, I've taken inspiration from enchanting stalactites, stalagmites, and irregular volcanic rock formations. Each mark and stroke is a tribute to the natural wonders, and I invite you to lose yourself in these marks and colours! Using a medley of acrylic inks, oil pastels, charcoal, pencils and brushes on Khadi paper, I want to capture the freedom of dancing in the sand, floating in the ocean, and the exhilarating feeling of exploring caves, secret beaches and coves.

For me, painting is more than just a creative outlet, when I'm painting I find myself immersed in a state of mindfulness where worries fade away and it truly is one of the few times in life where I'm living in the present. This mindful practice of abstract painting not only calms my mind but also infuses each artwork with a calming and peaceful aura. This collection represents my mindless dreaming and longing to be enveloped in the endless beauty of the golden beaches, unique rock formations, remarkable caves & glistening blue coves.  I want these artworks to serve as portals of escape, transporting you to tranquil shores and sun-kissed cliffs whenever you most need it. Let them be a sanctuary for your senses, inviting you to lose yourself in the infinite beauty of the world around us. I've poured my heart and soul into these artworks and I can't wait for you to see the full series!

I'll be releasing a few pieces from the new series very soon so be sure to keep your eyes peeled for the launch date & sign up to my newsletter for priority access.
